Metamorphosis | Brass & Sterling Silver Hinged Bangle | Color Patina

This piece came from a place of pure experimentation — layering metals, cutting negative space, and letting the forms find each other organically.

The brass top element ripples and folds like something caught mid-transformation, its warm golden tones deepened by a color patina that shifts across the surface. I let the chemistry do what it wanted, and what it wanted was extraordinary.

I fabricated the sterling silver bangle with a square profile, pierced oval cutouts along the body, and lined it with a row of sterling silver balls — each one pierced and threaded through so they move freely but can’t escape. A hinge on one side and a lock clasp on the other make it as functional as it is sculptural. The brass overlay was shaped, pierced, and cold-connected to the top so the two metals move as one.
