Process & Metal
“I take considerable care with each creation, fabricating every piece by my own hands infusing them with a little bit of my own soul”
The stones I use are not dyed or treated with chemicals. I cut, cab and polish many of my own stones, starting from their organic state. The stones I purchase are from other lapidary artist that I have come to know & trust.
In its purest state, all metal, when it comes in contact with air and the oils of your skin, does darken, this is called patina. So aged or darkened metal is a natural process and it really depends on each individual person as to how long it will take before your piece will develop its own aged look.
Here's a breakdown of the content in the metals I use: Recycled Sterling, Sterling Silver or Fine Silver all nickel-free. My Gold is 10K, 14K or 18K. Copper is pure copper. My Bronze is created in my studio by hand smelting a combination of the above metals. People can have allergies to so many metals. If it is a concern to you, I would suggest you research your allergic tendencies and know them well before making a purchase. I cannot be held responsible for allergic reactions to my products. Reach out to me prior to making a purchase if you want to know any additional information about any of the products I offer.
Metals
All jewelry will require cleaning to keep the bright shine and remove any tarnish. Use detergent in warm water and carefully brush with a soft toothbrush and then rinse in lukewarm water. After cleaning, air dry the jewelry and make sure to store in airtight boxes and bags.
Opal
Opals are more delicate than other gemstones, but they can still be worn daily with extra care. All opals are solid stones rather than doublets or triplets. This means these stones should be cleaned gently with mild detergent in warm water and a soft toothbrush or cloth. Avoid bleach, chemicals and cleaners.
Turquoise
Turquoise is a porous gemstone and should not be in contact with lotions, perfume and cosmetics. Remove when showering and clean with a damp gentle cloth only. The natural oils can be removed with jewelry cleaner.
Gemstones
Coloured gemstones should be cleaned with warm water adding a couple of drops of washing-up liquid. A soft brush will be more than adequate to gently remove dirt. Make sure to avoid hard and rigid brushes. Some gemstones can fade over time in direct sunlight, so make sure to store in jewelry boxes and keep separate from other jewelry to avoid scratching the surfaces.
Diamonds
Diamonds are not as indestructible as some may think. Contact with hard surfaces can cause breaks and cracks. Diamonds can be cleaned underneath with a soft toothbrush and a couple of drops of washing up liquid in warm water. This removes the grease and dirt that commonly builds up over time.
Storage
Store your jewelry items separately in their own airtight packaging.
Your jewelry should be the last thing you put on in the morning and the first thing you take off at night!
